Meet the Dogs October 7, 2019

Two year old Tig is strikingly handsome. We’re guessing Tig is some mix of Leonberger, Great Pyrenees, and perhaps Labrador Retriever? He’s a good sized dog around 60 lbs with this amazing light brindle color. Tig has only been at the shelter a couple of months, found abandoned at the gate. He is super friendly with people and dog selective.

Meet 14 month old white and black heeler mix Alberta, with perhaps some greyhound mixed in. She was surrendered to the shelter just a couple weeks ago and is dog, cat and people friendly – she’s just a big puppy! She has lots of energy but also loves to settle down for belly rubs and petty.

Polo’s back for a return engagement at Encore and we couldn’t be happier! We love this big Great Dane/Plotthound mix. Polo was brought in as a stray a year ago, and is three years old and a thin 50 lbs. He loves to play and run, then stop and soak up some petting and treats.

Lil Joe

Here’s another guy back for his encore at Encore – distinctive Lil Joe is a Bassett Hound with either pit bull or lab mixed in for good measure. He has the most expressive ears – up when curious, back when unsure, half cocked as he tries to figure you out (and whether or not you have treats). He is not comfortable when he first meets a new person, but patience, treats and a calm approach help to win him over.

Bodie is a big black and white American Bulldog, full of confidence. He’s a sweetheart with people but is not good with other animals. He’s a strong 45-50 lbs. Bodie needs some help remembering not to jump on people so we’ll work with him on that this week. He’s been at the shelter about 18 months.
