It was hot last summer, when the League for Animal Welfare first sent Gunter our way. He was a beagle, but a very unique lemon and white beagle, not the usual tri-colored type. And he was big for a beagle – a chunky 45 lbs. Gunter was about three years old and an owner surrender.
Gunter was a happy dog who got along well with others. In fact, he developed a real fancy for Fancy, a four year old yellow lab mix who became his soul mate. They played and wrestled in our play yard, which was good for them as they both were kind of chunky and needed the exercise!
Beagles are born to hunt, and Gunter was no exception. He would sniff out everything when outside. When he was in his crate for the noon snack and nap, he would bark with that distinctive beagle bay.
While at Encore, we were able to get some great pictures to help tell Gunter’s story. And a beagle rescue group heard that story and picked this great dog up for a transport to Florida and a forever home on September 7, 2018. Good going, Gunter!
