Thinking of Volunteering?
Save the Date – January 18!
Our mission at Encore is to help shelter dogs become more adoptable. In our first year, 42 dogs, 53%, that had been to Encore were adopted or transported by rescue to other states where there are more people wanting to adopt than there are dogs available. (That situation speaks well for those those states’ spay and neuter programs!)
That success would not have been possible without the help of our volunteers.
Volunteers at Encore do lots of different things – but the biggest thing is working with the shelter dogs.
They take the dogs out to poop and play. They sit with the fearful ones to help them learn that not all people are scary. They walk the leash pullers and teach the ones that never got to play with toys what a ball or a tug or a squeaky squirrel is. And they help in other ways.
We have folks to help keep the building clean and folks who do projects like painting or fixing fences. Some file paperwork. Some take pictures. Some gather up recyclables.
We need people with a wide variety of skills to keep the place going – administrative, handyman, fundraising, social media, and more.
All our volunteers help make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs, and we’d love to have more so we can help more dogs!
Our next volunteer orientation is Friday, January 18, at 10 a.m. at the Encore building. You will learn all about our program and the special new items that are available only to our volunteers!
It takes an hour and includes a facility tour. If you’re interested, please fill out our Volunteer Application – it’s also on the Ways to Help page of our website. You can drop it off, scan and email it to us, or bring it to the session.
Our email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Our address is 301 EA Darden Drive, Anniston, AL 36201
Please let us know if you are interested so we can save you a place! Hope we see you on the 18th!
