Just in time for the holidays, here’s a shout out to our most recent graduates of Introduction to Nose Work 1. On December 16, Jeanne S. Brock with Timmy, and Russell Harrold with Bya, completed the six week course which introduced the concept of searching in boxes, on vehicles, and in different indoor environments.
Nose work is like detection dog training, but the dogs search for food, and eventually for novel odors, instead of drugs or bombs. It’s a great way to burn energy for dogs with a bit too much get-up-and-go! It’s can also help shy dogs gain confidence, and strengthens the bond between dog and owner.
