Benson Update

One week a quarter Encore doesn’t have any dogs in building, so we can do deep cleaning projects and regular maintenance. That’s this week! So we’ll be featuring some dogs that were here in March and are still available for adoption.

Remember larger than life Benson, a four year old Pit Bull/Australian kelpie or cattle dog mix from the Calhoun County Humane Society? He’s been at the shelter over two years. He’s full of energy and loves burning off that energy retrieving toys and learning new skills. Benson’s the guy that had been hrrmm… diarrhea-challenged. He’d been tested for parasites and infections but that wasn’t it. Turns out he needed a regular diet and probiotic to settle him down. Check out the video of Benson wolfing down a cup of yogurt – he could be the spokesdog for Activia! We guess he knew that those live and active probiotics were just the ticket to settling his gut. He’s on a pill probiotic now. He also got a donation of a steady supply of the same dog food so he’s not having to change brands. And he’s doing much better!

Speaking of active, an active family would make a great forever home for Benson – some older kids to play with, maybe someone who runs or takes long walks. A family that needs a reason to laugh, because this guy will make you laugh a lot. Like all dogs that have been to Encore, Benson’s adoption comes with two free lessons to help his new owners with his transition to a first class future. He’s available for adoption at the Calhoun County Humane Society.
